Norway has many natural gifts which attract travelers from around the world. Norwegians are known for their love of nature and they have gone to great lengths to protect their environment. However, as the country has modernized beautiful cities like Bergen, Tromso and Trondheim have become more prominent as well. Norwegians still embrace the wilderness and work to preserve it through eco tourism.
They are concerned about the impact of global warming on their natural environment, and the country has gone to great lengths to reduce its carbon footprint. Ironically, they are using their oil wealth to promote more environmentally sustainable technologies. Norway is a wealthy country and it is an expensive country for foreigners to visit. Camp sites are one of the cheapest lodging options, and discounts on transportation can be found.

There are many good spots in northern Norway from which to see the northern lights, including from North Cape in Finnmark. The northern lights, or aurora borealis, are a spectacular display that attract travelers from around the world. These mystical lights are at their best in late autumn and during the winter and early spring.
The best months for viewing the northern lights are February, March and October, with the best times for viewing between 6pm and 1am. Travelers should avoid viewing during a full moon because the light from the moon will detract significantly from the display. The northern lights can be viewed across the country of Norway, but the view is much better from locations above the Arctic Circle, in the north of the country. Viewers should be patient because the exact timing of displays is impossible to predict.
